1996 is the last Millennial birth year under Pew Research Center's definition; Gen Z starts at 1997. Born 1993–1998, you also fit the informal Zillennial micro-generation on the Millennial–Gen Z cusp.
What are all the generations in order?
From oldest to youngest: The Lost Generation (1883–1900), The Greatest Generation (1901–1927), The Silent Generation (1928–1945), Baby Boomers (1946–1964), Generation X (1965–1980), Millennials (1981–1996), Generation Z (1997–2012), Generation Alpha (2013–2024), Generation Beta (2025–present). Xennials (1977–1983) and Zillennials (1993–1998) are informal micro-generations that overlap the boundaries.
What generation comes after Gen Z?
Generation Alpha, born roughly 2013–2024, followed by Generation Beta from 2025 onward.
Are generation birth years official?
Mostly not. The only US generation with an official government definition is the Baby Boom (born 1946–1964, per the US Census Bureau). Every other range is a research-and-media convention — this site uses Pew Research Center's widely cited definitions.
